Last weekend proved to be a dramatic weekend for the British Touring Car Championship at Croft.
An unfortunate multi-car collision during qualifying for round 13 on Saturday left mountune powered Team Shredded Wheat Racing with DUO driver Luke Davenport hospitalised. Luke suffered significant injuries and is currently in intensive care in an induced coma with multiple chest injuries, lung damage, broken right leg, broken pelvis, broken right arm and concussion. The whole team at mountune would like to wish him a full and speedy recovery, and our thoughts are also with drivers Aron Taylor-Smith and Jeff Smith who were injured in the accident.
The weekend took a more positive turn once racing began on Sunday and presented a podium lock-out for mountune powered drivers in the finale. Mat Jackson looked right at home as he took his first podium finish of the season, crossing the line third in Race 1, which he later backed up with an emphatic drive, taking the chequered flag in Race 3, dedicated to new team member, Luke Davenport. Jackson described the win as “a great result” after fighting off efforts from Ollie Jackson at the start of the race and later a challenge from Sutton.
Jackson's win marked the 250th for Ford Machinery in the BTCC and together with two points scored from team-mate Martin Depper, Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Duo reached the summit of the Independent Teams’ table.
Adrian Flux Subaru Racing saw a lights to flag victory for Ashley Sutton in Race 1, holding off 'King of Croft' Turkington to take the win at the North Yorkshire circuit in his mountune powered Subaru Levorg. Sutton went on to finish second in Race 2, and again in Race 3 ahead of team mate Plato, who took to the podium for the first time this season. Sutton said: “We’re having a fantastic weekend so far. We’ve bounced back from having a car that didn’t look in the best shape after qualifying yesterday to this – full credit to the team.”
Sutton is now sitting in 4th in the drivers standings, with Jackson and Plato in 9th and 15th respectively.
For the 2016 season, the China Touring Car Championship saw various changes to the series format, including a new 2x 35km Race configuration, and mountune powered Changan Ford FRD Team also made some alterations to their championship campaign this year.
Completing in the Super Cup 2.0T class, progressing from the 1.6 category in 2015, the team signed British Driver Dan Wells who made history in 2016 as the first non-Chinese driver to race in the CTCC, competing in four of the eight meetings across the season, the maximum permitted for an international driver.
The Formula Racing Development owned manufacturers team saw great success this season with multiple pole positions, various individual podiums and several 1-2-3 finishes, and had done enough to take the 2016 Manufacturer's Title this weekend, before the final race in Shanghai Tianma circuit had even begun.
Our mountune designed and built turbocharged EcoBoost engine powered all four of the Ford Focus 2.0T hatchbacks, upgraded from the saloon model of 2015, and contributed to the strong package that produced this winning results, that is car, team and driver.

Olsbergs MSE driver Kevin Eriksson took the Germany RX win this month in his mountune powered Ford Fiesta ST, claiming his first every victory in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Starting on the second row of the grid in the 2016 final, Eriksson stunned his competitors as he pulled off an epic sideways move from the outside and managed to take the lead, which he retained for the rest of the race.
“I am speechless,” explained Eriksson, who has become the seventh different winner in World RX this year. “I saw Petter lead off the start and planned to stay behind him but then I saw an opportunity to go on the outside and hoped for the best. Somehow it worked! I felt I had really good speed throughout the weekend and to beat these guys you need to be driving at your very best. This weekend, everything came together and we got the consistency I needed to take the win.”
The Ford-based Duratec 4-cylinder turbo engines, designed and built by mountune utilising an Olsbergs MSE head casting, are constantly undergoing vigorous programs of testing and development to further improve the engines performance output and reliability, and have powered the Olsbergs drivers to the podium on numerous occasions claiming four manufacturers and drivers' championship titles between 2011-2014.
This weekends penultimate BTCC round at Silverstone Circuit saw mountune powered Motorbase Performance take three podium wins and edge even closer to that championship title.
Race 1's frantic action on the track was nothing compared to the post-race drama, which saw the two MG drivers get disqualified for a technical infringement, resulting in mountune powered Andrew Jordan, who had crossed the line in 4th, now being handed the second place finish.
Action packed Race 2 saw Jordan on form again as he took the lead in lap eight, after starting in p2, and crossed the line with less than a 1 second lead. “It was hard work,” said Jordan. “I think I’ve done myself a bit of an injury celebrating! We needed that". Jordan's Race 1 & 2 podium finishes sees the 2013 Champion keep his aspirations for a second British Touring Car Championship drivers’ title alive, currently sitting in 6th position with 3 races left this season.
Another thrilling final Race saw Motorbase Performance's Mat Jackson start in p3 thanks to a reverse grid draw with a P2 finish in the #7 mountune powered Focus. This result also keeps Mat's championship title dreams alive, now sitting just 21 points behind the leader in the Drivers Standings.
The mountune powered Subaru's also made points this weekend with Turkington & Plato now sitting in 7th & 8th respectively. With just one event and three highly-anticipated BTCC races remaining this season, Brands Hatch is set to be the most exciting race this year, with just 37 points separating the top seven drivers and 67 still on offer at the season finale in 2 weeks time.
mountune powered BTCC teams have seen significant points increases in their 2016 campaigns following last weekends dramatic Knockhill round.
Race 1 saw Silverline Subaru BMR's Jason Plato start comfortably from pole position, keeping the lead to take the flag in his 500th BTCC race, which now elevates him into the top ten of this years championship. Teammate Colin Turkington finished just 1.003 behind taking third place on the podium. The second race of the day saw Plato take his second podium, this time in 3rd position.
Starting from pole position for the reversed top-six grid, Motorbase Performance's Mat Jackson defended his lead extremely well in Race 3 finishing in 1st place by just two-tenths of a second, making him the first four-time race winner this season. Plato made it a hat-trick of podium visits with his second third place finish.
With just three rounds left, the championship title is still very much up for grabs with both mountune powered Subaru and Ford teams in the running.
This weekends BTCC round at Snetterton didn't disappoint with non stop action and several podium wins for the mountune powered teams.
Race 1 of the day saw Turkington cross the line first after the Silverline Subaru BMR driver battled his way through in lap eight. The top step podium makes Turkington the first three-time race winner of 2016, following his Race 1 wins at Croft and Oulton Park earlier this season. Jackson, challenging his way from fifth on the grid, took a third place finish in Race 1 in the Motorbase Performance Ford Focus, claiming a podium on the team’s 300th BTCC race.
Jackson made his mark securing victory in a thrilling Race 2, twice muscling past pole man turkington off the grid, after a red flag before the end of lap one meant a restart. The first place finish took Jackson to a total of two wins this season, with Turkington again taking a podium step in Race 2, this time in 2nd place.

After an impressive qualifying session on Saturday where he secured pole position, Colin Turkington eased to victory in Race 1 at Oulton Park this weekend. Performing the perfect run from lights to flag, Turkington’s perfect drive saw mountune powered Team BMR take their first ever BTCC win in their manufacturer backed Subaru Levorg.
Race 2 brought another podium win for the double BTCC champion, this time in second place, with team mate Jason Plato taking an additional hat trick of podiums with his three 3rd place victories.
'We are very happy with the results from Oulton Park this weekend, recent progress has been made with the chassis and engine after a 2 day test at Pembrey. We would like to thank mountune who have put in a huge effort to produce a competitive engine in such a short space of time', said Team Manager Alan Cole.
The Japanese cars have been fitted with a new inlet manifolds designed and developed by mountune since the teams last meeting at Thruxton, and test sessions and improvements made have certainly paid off for the team after this weekend's round.

mountune powered Andy Yan won his first Super Cup 2.0T race at the Nanjing Wantrack Circuit this weekend, with his team-mates Martin Cao, Rainey He and Dan Wells taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions.
The first two laps of this race were led by the safety car due to the rainy conditions before the UK's Dan Wells, who started the race in pole position, was passed by his three Chinese team-mates with Rainey He having a brief clash with Martin Cao on lap eight and falling to fourth, but he recovered to third in the latter part of the race.
The four Focus ST's run 2-Litre EcoBoost engines, designed and developed by mountune for the Changan Ford FRD Teams' 2016 Chinese Touring Car Championship.
Tomorrow sees the first round of the 2016 Global Rallycross championship kick off at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Phoenix, Arizona.
Our 2.4-litre Ford Duratec® based engine will again be used to power the complete grid of Supercar Lites in this years championship.
The naturally aspirated all-aluminium unit also provides an excellent lightweight option for rally, race, hill-climb, and sprint or kit car.
There will also be a number of mountune powered Supercars on the grid this year, including SH Rallycross' Ford Fiesta ST running a turbo charged, 4-cylinder 2.0 Duratec engine.
