mountune announces involvement with Team BMR in this year’s British Touring Car Championship as official engine partner...
mountune Racing Technical Director, David Mountain, was approached by BMR Team Manager, and industry friend Alan Cole, in regards to the build of the 2.0-litre turbocharged engines, following the signing of the deal with Subaru UK & Ireland at the end of 2015.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen to build the engines for BMR’s 2016 championship campaign, and very happy to be partnered with a manufacturer team.” said Mountain. “The development team here at mountune will be working around the clock getting the four Boxer engines ready for pre-season testing and are all looking forward to seeing them perform out on track during this year's championship.”
Team BMR Owner Warren Scott added, "I am very pleased and excited to be working with mountune on the development of the engine and I’m positive that with the very small time frame that we are faced with, they will produce a great engine in time for the Official BTCC Media Day on 22nd March at Donington Park."
Kevin Berry, Team BMR’s Chief Engineer added, "Having looked at all the options available to us for 2016 I am excited that mountune are on board to develop and build our engine for this project. With the extensive experience that mountune have in the BTCC and NGTC regulations, I am extremely confident that mountune have the expertise and ability to produce a great race engine from this unique Subaru base."
Team BMR is a strong contender for the 2016 title with four Subaru Levorg Sports Tourer’s out on the grid, and previous champions behind the wheel. Couple that with mountune’s successful 35 year racing history and it makes for a very dynamic partnership, and an exciting 2016 season.
The mountune office based in Southern California is set to move premises in the next few weeks, having outgrown the facility at Fountain Valley.
The new 20,000sqft HQ set in Carson is perfectly situated off LA’s busiest freeway, making it an ideal location for what will be known as the mountune Performance Centre, serving both domestic and international markets.
The new build will house a fully-equipped fitting workshop, in-house photo studio, sales & marketing hub plus a massive R&D department to help improve our throughput of new mountune performance parts on offer.
